It’s hard to know what the future may bring. But there is one thing you can know for certain. Your future will be better with a college education.

And that goes for everyone – whether you are in high school exploring your options or are older looking to improve your life and that of your family.

Just look at me, for example. I started working at General Motors in Michigan right after high school, and when the economy turned, decided to begin college at age 28.  I graduated from community college with an associate degree in industrial drafting and if I had stopped there and started a rewarding career, the education would have been worth it. However, as often happens on one’s educational journey, I discovered something about myself that I didn’t know was there – a passion for higher education. So began my 26-year career as an instructor and administrator. During this time I got my bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.

The bottom line is this – if you had told me on my first day attending a community college that I would one day be the president of one, I would not have believed you. But it was all possible thanks to education.

Your dreams, even those you have yet to discover, are achievable through education. You just need to take the first step. Fortunately, there is a network of dedicated staff and instructors who, like me, are passionate about the promise of higher education and are dedicated to helping support your path to a brighter future.
